Dubai Sharks to Host 2016 Eden Park Sevens Tournement

 

UAE Rugby has today announced the 2016 edition of the UAE Rugby Eden Park Sevens (7’s) which will be a 1-day tournament hosted by the Dubai Sharks, at their home ground in Dubai Sports City, on Friday November 18th.

Qais Al Dhalai, UAE Rugby Federation’s Secretary General said:

“UAE Rugby is very proud to bring, for a fifth year, the UAE Rugby Eden Park 7’s through a 1-day tournament.”

“This time of the year sees the rugby community focus heavily on the 7’s format of our game and with the majority of clubs participating, once again, in the Gulf Men’s Open division of the Emirates Airline Dubai Rugby 7’s, we are acutely cognisant of the Federation’s requirement and ability to provide the opportunity for our UAE-based clubs to adequately prepare.”

He went on to say:

“We thank the Sharks for hosting the tournament for a second year, and we wish all clubs the best on the day.”

Franck Mesnel, founder Eden Park commented:

“We are delighted the Eden Park 7’s has such a solid following, both Expatriates and UAE Nationals, from across the UAE. Eden Park, and I, remain very proud of the relationship formed with the UAE Rugby Federation and we remain encouraged by the development of the game across the Gulf Regions through various new Sevens’s initiatives implemented in the past year focusing on, and supporting the growth of indigenous talent.”

Supporting the action on the pitch, Dubai Sports City will host various fun, interactive competitions which will be open to all members of the family and where some fantastic Eden Park prizes can be won. Extensive food and beverage offerings will also be available adding to what will be two enjoyable day out. “We are expecting quality 7’s rugby to be played on the 18th, and encourage all rugby supporters to join us and support their club for what will be a great day of domestic 7’s rugby” added Ibrahim Buhamer, UAERF Board Member.

The day’s fixtures are expected to start early-morning and spectator entry to the tournament is free.
