So given the situation in the last couple of days or even hours… are all other games still going ahead? Almost all sporting events has been cancelled. All schools has now been cancelled and obviously we should be a bit concerned at this stage. When will a decision be made on all remaining Division 1 matches?
Hi Evan, thanks for the comment. At the moment, Gulf Rugby Management are still going ahead with domestic fixtures, but obviously that could still change. As soon as we hear of any changes, we’ll update this post. Thanks
Hi,
Fully understand the interest of safety and understand that all sporting events are reviewed in the interest of safety but I have to say cancelling all remaining games including the final which is due to be played on the 27th of March is very much premature! This should have been reviewed and a decision made 14days(quarantine period) before the games in question. Safety first but the Bahrain F1 hasn’t been cancelled yet but the west Asia final(a week after) has! Looking forward to your views on this!! Thanks
Thanks for the comment. Unfortunately, it’s out of our (Yalla Rugby’s) hands. Gulf Rugby Management, the company that run the leagues and fixtures, have made the decision following advice from Asia Rugby and UAE Rugby. It’s a great shame that the games have been cancelled as the final which was due to be played on the 27th between Bahrain and Exiles would have been a cracker, but they are putting the health and safety of others.
Hi Brian, thanks for the comment. Yes games you have mentioned are still scheduled to go ahead. The West Asia Premiership is basically the same as the UAE Premiership, but with the addition of Bahrain. It’s the playing of fixtures in Bahrain that is the issue.
Hope that helps.
Fully understand if this decision has been made but there are 2 other games, due to be played this weekend, not listed as being cancelled as per paragraph 2 above.
Tigers v Hurricanes
Knights/Eagles v Exiles
Will they go ahead?
