The Al Ain Amblers rugby club was formed in 1984 playing on a sand pitch at Al-Ain English Speaking School. The club is known as one of the most sociable in the Gulf. They have a 1st XV rugby in the UAE Conference competition and a 2nd XV competing in the UAE Community League.
The rugby club moved to their current location, Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting and Golf Club, after a generous offer from Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan. With a large clubhouse, gym, pool and three floodlit pitches, these facilities are certainly one of the best in the UAE and can equal many of the top class grounds in Europe and elsewhere.
Youth rugby continues to grow strongly in the club with over 140 players regularly involved. The Ain Amblers have developed a strong reputation in youth rugby, reaching the finals of the Emirates Leagues at U16 and U18 levels and winning the International Bintang 10’s in Kuala Lumpur in 2010 at U14 level.
