Below you will find the full list of UAE rugby union fixtures and results from around the United Arab Emirates for the 2017/18 Gulf rugby season. The Emirates rugby union season runs from September through to April, with a break during the month of December, when the Dubai 7’s and Eden Park rugby tournaments take place.
Fixtures in the gulf tend to be played either at 1pm, 3pm or 5pm on a Friday depending on which division the scheduled match is taking place. Premiership matches usually take place later in the day, with Conference games played before and Community League matches first.
From mid September through to December, games are later in the day and then they come forward as the cooler weather sets in from December to March.
Results & Fixture Locations
There are only a handful of clubs in the UAE that have their own dedicated clubhouse. The majority of teams share sports grounds with other rugby clubs.
Dubai Sevens Stadium
The Sevens Stadium along the Al Ain Road is home ground to the Exiles, Wasps, Hurricanes, Shaheen and Beaver Nomads rugby clubs. The stadium is located 2.5km past exit 30 on the Dubai-Al Ain Road, making it the ideal location for anyone travelling from different Emirates.
The Facilities include 8 floodlit pitches, an International Standard playing surface, multiple changing rooms, swimming pool and a fully licensed bar.
Rugby Park, located in Sports City, just off Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road (E-311) is home ground to the Dubai Eagles rugby clubs.
The Facilities include two full-size, International Rugby Board (IRB)-standard, floodlit grass pitches, as well as one IRB-standard, outdoor artificial turf pitch and one IRB-standard, air-conditioned, indoor artificial turf pitch. The grandstands overlooking the main outdoor pitch can seat 2,660 spectators with a bar overlooking the pitches.
Situated at the Bin Majid Beach Resort in Ras Al Khaimah, the UAE’s only sand rugby pitch is the home ground to the RAK Rocks rugby club (formerly known as the RAK Goats).
Facilities include floodlit pitch and for many veterans out there, will take you back to the “old school” days of a portacabin changing room. Traditionally after each rugby game, both teams share post game banter in the sea which is less than 100 yards from the pitch. An outstanding way to cool down and remove all the sand from the erm… cracks!
Arguably one of the best grass pitches in the UAE and probably the Middle East, Al Ain Amblers rugby fixtures can be on on one of their five full sized grass rugby pitches.
Facilities include floodlit pitches, grand stand and bar/restaurant, swimming pools and good sized changing rooms. Visiting teams always enjoy a run out here. The rugby fields are also used for international sporting events and the club recently played host to the West Asia Rugby 7’s Olympic Qualifier rugby fixture.
